Blazing into the Night by Jamey Pyles on Flickr. Camped out on the Alvord Desert, I was able to witness the largest fire in the nation right now and Oregon’s largest since 1865 develop and spread. When we arrived that day, the land was dominated by a thick cloud of smoke. Out on the tiles, we set up camp and watched as the horizon grew red. The Longdraw fire started not far from the Alvord and moved East with the wind… It has burned over 580,000 acres, and is still going. You just have to see it large.
